Seasonal (SEAS) position

Job Description:

The Special Needs/One-One Counselor will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of their assigned group of individuals or individual. The incumbent will possess experience in working with individuals with special needs in areas such as: appropriate behavior in social settings, recreational activities, basic care and skill development.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum of 18 years old. High school graduate or equivalent experience. Experience with individuals with developmental disabilities, knowledge and ability to lead, teach and supervise participants in a variety of activities.

Additional Qualifications:

Considerable knowledge of summer program planning. Ability to be flexible and creative when you feel the need to modify your participant's day due to individual needs. Good character, integrity, and adaptability. Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control. Employee must effectively communicate knowledge of program activities to individuals of various age groups, educational levels and backgrounds. Cognizant of legal ramifications including but not limited to abuse, sexual harassment and risk management. Able to access complex situations under pressure and deal with the situation in a professional and appropriate and confidential manner.

Must be available for Orientations June 15 & June 25-28, 2024. Leisure Program dates run from July 1 - August 16, 2024. Staff hours are Monday - Friday 7:30-AM 4:45 PM.

$18.00 hourly, no benefits.
