Seasonal (SEAS) Position
Join our Parking Resource Officer team and help create a safe, welcoming, and well-managed environment for residents and visitors. As a PRO, you’ll serve as both a friendly ambassador and a key enforcer of parking regulations in the Town of Barnstable. This is a seasonal, uniformed position. The position pays $20.50 per hour, with hours ranging from 24–40 per week. Applicants must be able to work weekends and holidays.
Position Overview
Parking Resource Officers (PROs) play a key role in supporting safe, orderly, and accessible parking throughout the Town of Barnstable. This position combines public interaction, parking enforcement, and on-the-ground assistance to ensure visitors and residents have a positive experience at Town properties, including Bismore Park during peak ferry operations. PROs serve as ambassadors for the Town by providing accurate information, promoting voluntary compliance, and maintaining a professional and visible presence in the community.
Key Responsibilities
Greet and assist public with information about Town properties, parking options, regulations, and local resources.
Monitor assigned parking areas for compliance with Town policies and issue citations when necessary.
Conduct patrols by vehicle and on foot across designated areas.
Assist guests with mobile and kiosk parking systems and provide troubleshooting support when needed.
Observe and manage activity in parking areas, including vehicle placement, bus and tour movements, delivery truck operations, and rideshare or taxi staging
Provide additional support in the Bismore Park area during Hy-Line ferry loading and unloading to maintain safe pedestrian flow and answer visitor questions.
Report safety concerns, operational issues, or unusual activity promptly to supervisors.
Maintain consistent communication with team members and supervisors throughout each shift.
Support the overall cleanliness and orderly appearance of assigned areas
Maintain a professional, courteous, and customer-focused presence at all times
Requirements
Strong customer-service skills with a professional and approachable demeanor
Ability to issue parking citations confidently, fairly, and accurately.
Comfortable using smartphones, apps, and parking-related software systems.
Ability to stand, walk, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions for most of the shift.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Full availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Valid Massachusetts driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Tools & Training Provided
Training in parking enforcement procedures and Town guidelines
Instruction on mobile and kiosk parking systems
Use of the Sling App for scheduling and team communication
On-site support from supervisors and experienced team members
